Cast Your Line and Reel in the Crappie Bounty on Oologah Lake!
The Oologah Lake Fishing Guides | 6 Hour Charter Trip with Slabbin Mike's Crappie Fishing and Guide Service was a fantastic way to spend a day on the water. May is a prime time for crappie fishing on Grand Lake o' the Cherokees, as the warming waters draw the fish into the shallows and make them extra active. Tom and I met up at the Spencer Creek Campground, ready to put our skills to the test and see what we could find.
From the moment we launched the boat, the action was on. We started by jigging around some of the submerged brush and timber, and it didn't take long before we had a nice Crappie on the line. The fight was spirited, but Tom handled it like a pro, and we soon had the fish in the boat. We kept at it, working different depths and structures, and the Crappie just kept coming. Trolling and light tackle presentations also proved productive, and we added a few more solid fish to the cooler.
As the day went on, the conditions stayed perfect - clear skies, calm water, and the fish were really turned on. We covered a good bit of water, exploring different parts of the lake, but the Crappie were biting everywhere we went. By the time we called it a day, we had a great haul, with plenty of tasty fillets to take home. But beyond just the numbers, it was the overall experience that made the trip so memorable - the camaraderie, the thrill of the fight, and the satisfaction of mastering the techniques to put fish in the boat.
